Sustainable supply and use of energy in the economy
The Federal Government’s energy concept aims to reduce primary energy consumption by 50% by 2050. The industrial, commercial, services and trade sectors account for over 40% of total energy consumption and around 70% of power consumption. Improved resource and energy efficiency offer opportunities for the economy and open up new possibilities in global markets, making them key to creating a Green Economy. Innovations are needed, in every sector of industry and throughout the value chain, to raise efficiency potentials.
In addition to technological innovations, economic and social-ecological cross-cutting analyses are required to create a knowledge base, that takies the complex associations and path dependencies into account, to support strategic decisions both in businesses and at the political level.
